Meghna Krishan Baveja Award instituted in 1997 in memory of Meghna who was in 2nd yr. MBBS student daughter of Dr.Usha Krishan Baveja former HOD Dr. Prof. of Microbiology MAMC. Past President of MAMCOS & Maulanian of 1963 Batch. She was snatched away by the cruel hand of destiny at the age of 19 years.
Meghna was kind compassionate and brilliant girl. She had passion for arts, painting and writing. She wanted to become pediatrician she was lovingly called Jonny. The scholarship is awarded to best professional student whose aspirations match Meghna.
A.S. Puri award was instituted in 2000 by Dr.J.S. Puri 1969 batch now practicing in bellfast UK in memory of his father Sh.A.S. Puri and hoes to the best overall student of 2nd prof.
Dr.Rajiv Bajaj was born on the 5th of November, 1947, He graduated from Ramjas School No.2 with exceptional grads and joined Hansraj College at Delhi University. Following his success in pre-medical he gained his admission at Maulana Azad Medical College in 1964 and graduated in 1969 as a doctor. He worked as a scholar at the Chest Institute before embarking on his journey abroad to Ireland and final completing his fellowship from New York University in Anesthesiology. He settled in Pennsylvania with family and development his interest in cardiac Anesthesiology. This award is setup by Mr. and Mrs O.P. Bajaj (parents) in his remembrance.
Dr.Dilip Kak was an undergraduate and postgraduate student of MAMC He was working on a new virus HBV at that time. Contracted infection and was snatched away by the cruel hands of destiny.
DILIP KAK Memorial Award was instituted in 2002 by his class. for Best thesis in Medicine and related fields.
MAMCOS Sports Award instituted by 1977-81 Batch for best sports person in MAMC.
Gopal Sachdev & Anand Grover Awrad has been institutes by Dr.Rajni Sachdev and Dr.Ramanpreet Grover, respectively in memory of their Husband’s Dr.Gopal Sachdev a Maulanian and Prof. in Deptt. of Medicine, MAMC and Dr.Anand Grover a Mualanian and a practicing Eye Surgeon, both died of Heart attack at very young age. This MAMCOS award is awarded in their honour to the topper in PG course in Medicine / Ophthalmology.
Instituted in 1995, thus competition has proved to be a big annual hit with undergraduate students. Dr.I.S. Bal (1963-68) ENT surgeon in Nairobi, during his student years was known as an exceptional singer. The funds for the organization of this event have been collected from and by his friends and admirers. Winners of this competition receive cash prizes of about Rs. 18,500.
